St.Maarten Multihull Regatta

Notice of Race 2013

We take pleasure in inviting you to compete in the 4th edition of the Around St.Maarten Multihull Regatta. The organizing authority is the Sailing Club St.Maarten

 

Rules

The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2013 2016 ??( which can be found at www.sailing.org), the Sailing Instructions and its attachments, and the CSA safety rules (which can be found at www. caribbean-sailing.com).
RRS 52 (manual power) will not apply. The SI’s may also change other racing rules.

Advertising 
The regatta is a Category C event
Boats may be required to display advertising provided by the organizing authority as permitted by ISAF Regulation 20.4.1.

Eligibility & Entry

The Regatta will be held for the following Classes that may get subdivided:

Multihull:                        St.Maarten Multihull Handicap System

Beach Cat Class:            Texel rating Rule


Boats may enter by sending their entry to us by hand, mail or E-mail, to be received no later than February 22nd 2013.

Boats may be accepted after this date by paying an additional  late entry fee of US$ 20.00.

Fees

Multihull Classes:             US$ 80.00, for Saturday only, US$ 130,00 for Saturday & Sunday

Beach Cats:                        US$ 70.00, for Saturday only, US$ 120,00 for Saturday & Sunday

 

The entry fee must be paid no later than at registration. The fee is payable in CASH.


Beach Cat Security

For the beach cat class the entry fee includes security Overnight on the beach in Simpson Bay on the nights of the 22nd and 23rd and 24th of February if required. The regatta organisers can not be held responsible for any loss or damages to the beach cats left on the beach.


Identification

All boats are required to register their sail numbers for use in identifying their boat. Beach Cats are required to have identification numbers in their main sails.

Schedule of Races

Saturday February 23rd , 2013 & Sunday 24th, 2013

Warning signals will not be before 9:50 am.

For all participants registration will be open on Friday February 22nd 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Buccaneer’s Beach Bar (Kim Sha Beach)

Skippers Briefing will take place at 7.00pm on Friday 22nd  of February on Kim Sha Beach next to Buccaneer Beach Bar.


Rating

Each entry in the Multihull class must have a completed Multihull rating form attached to their entry form available on line in a PDF format.

Each entry in the Beach Cat Class will be assigned a Texel Rating.


Courses

The race course on Saturday the 23rd will be around the island of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin clockwise weather permitting and may be altered.

The race course on Sunday the 24th will be shorter courses on the waters of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.

The starting area will be in Simpson Bay at the southwest end of the bay

There will be at least 1 race for each class each day.

There may be different length courses for the different classes.

The final Sailing Instructions and course details will be available at the Skippers Briefing or include in the Registration Package


Scoring

The low point system of RRS Appendix A will apply. No scores will be excluded.

For all classes one race is required to be completed to constitute a series.


Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class for each race day separately.

A trophy will be awarded to the timed fastest boat around the island in each class.

There will be no overall trophies.


Safety regulations

All Multihulls shall comply with CSA minimum safety requirements except that they are exempt from the lifeline requirement. This changes RRS 77.
A separate set of minimum safety requirements for beach cats is available to the beach cats participants on the website and in their registration package .


Disclaimer of liability

Competitors participate in the Around St.Maarten Multihull Regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
